Meeting Schedule
Monthly meetings of the Women’s Auxiliary are generally held on the 4th Thursdays of the month during the months of September through May at 12:00pm at the Church located at 223 S. 3rd Street. It is the purpose of the Women’s Auxiliary to assist The Salvation Army with their projects and with any of The Salvation Army activities in the community. One of the primary purposes of the Auxiliary is to organize ways to raise money for unfunded and/or unexpected expenses that arise during the year at the Salvation Army. In addition to raising funds, the Women’s Auxiliary helps provide volunteers for The Salvation Army projects during the Christmas season and throughout the year as the need arises.
Events
Golf Tournament sponsored by the Salvation Army Advisory Board
Auxiliary Members assist with preparation prior to event as well as registration and other activities of the day of the Tournament.
Spring Fling
The Spring Fling is a fundraiser which is held during April. It includes a luncheon, entertainment, silent auction, bake and craft sale.
Memberships
Although The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary is not a social organization, the interaction that takes place in planning and working together on various committees and fundraisers provides good Christian fellowship, generates joy and laughter and forms many lasting relationships.
Active Member | Attends and participates in meetings, activities and projects and upholds membership responsibilities. Membership Dues are $20 per year.
Supporting Member | Unable to attend meetings, purchases tickets for the annual Spring Fling fundraiser, provides assistance for events/activities by furnishing baked goods, silent auction items, serving, etc. Actively participates in one or more of the Christmas programs (Applications, Angel Tree, Stocking, Toy Shop). Membership Dues are $30 per year.
Layette Program | The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary provides layettes for mothers of newborn babies. They also sponsor Layette Day at their May general meeting held at the Senior Center. Donated items allow us to replenish the Layette Closet with handcrafted items from the ladies of the New Hanover County Senior Center as well as from individuals within the community. Items that are needed include: onesies, sleepers, socks, receiving blankets, large and small bottles, bibs, pacifiers, and diapers. The items should be sized Newborn to 3 Months.
