As you drive by our campus site off MLK Parkway, you will notice our contractor, Wells Brothers 

Construction Company, has equipment on site and has begun the first phase of site preparation. 

This involves the filling of four wetland areas totaling less than ½ acre of our 22-acre site. Over 

the course of the last year, we applied for and obtained the proper permits from the US Army 

Corps of Engineers and the State of North Carolina to do the work. As part of the process, we 

paid wetland Mitigation Fees that allow the creation of new wetlands in other areas where 

needed. As the work requires the removal of some trees, we also obtained a Tree Removal 

Permit from the City of Wilmington. This work will make our site much more usable than it is 

currently. This initial stage will continue for several weeks.
